Yes, it’s overplayed and not always worth it but I went to Miami this past week for my birthday solely because it was too damn cold in New York to do anything but sit in my apartment and be miserable about the dissolution of my company (google Blippar if you’re curious). Anyways, the weather was great, the food was overpriced and I loved every second of it.
- If you go it’ll rain for at least one night
- You can always pool hop to different hotels even if you’re staying at a shitty one
- Eat at kiki on the river, it’s worth it
- The edition is bomb af – if you have an extra $300 a night to spare stay there
In an attempt to be a video honey:
Mega relatable meme, throwback to Colombia and Morocco. Solo drinking in Alphabet City and a beach wedding
Colombia’s wealth system is on a scale 1-10. 10 being the richest and 1 being the poorest. This is Comuna 13, they are a 0.
A small town of maybe 1,000 people located in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Home to coffee farms, views of the Santa Marta, waterfalls and much more. It’s about an hour outside of the city by bus and once in the town the only mode of transport is moto taxi. For those of you don’t know moto is short for motorcycle. Aka you have to ride on the back of someone’s motorcycle up and down the mountain to see anything.
Let me explain, I’m officially brain dead when it comes to planning and can’t do it anymore so I let my friend Lauren plan this excursion.
At first I thought we would be taking a taxi from location to location in Minca. I then learned there would be motorcycle transport. Which was ok, until I learned it was all motos all the time up and down the mountain… not ok.
The photo above was taken when it was deemed too “sucio” aka dangerous for us to sit on the back of the motorcycles. I know sucio means dirty but in reality those wheels were slipping and sliding around the mud so bad I was convinced we were going to keel over at any moment.
Lucky for us these guys grew up in Minca and have been riding up and down the mountains for years, nevertheless I did not feel better on the back of the moto 😂
Was is worth it? Eh. Would I do it again? Also eh. Anyways – here are the photos. (Yes I threw a little thirst trap in there for you hoes)
Word to the wise. If you’re in Colombia and have an extra 2 days it’s worth going to Tayrona National Park in Santa Marta. Go with a tour company and get ready for some of the most beautiful beaches you’ve ever seen and a bumpy ass 2 hour ride.
Word to the thirsty: charge your phones , the thirst traps are A1
Does anyone else go onto their online dating profiles and swipe on a ton of people and get like no matches?
Or do you match with someone who think is great and you text for 3 weeks, have great chemistry, and make plans to meet up only to have them cancel and ghost?
What about when you finally do match with a bunch of people and send admittingly generic and not clever messages but still cute and never get a response?
So my thoughts on the Hamptons now that my weekend is coming to a close.
I would never come here on my own accord – coming with someone who already has a plan or a trip is great (aka me mooching off my roommates work trip). I say this because the Hamptons is oddly exclusive and weird. Everything is far apart (except for in Montauk where Uber’s are $10 no matter where you go). Side note for a tangent Uber’s here are so fucking expensive. Literally it costs almost the same to go to a different town 20 minutes away and to uber back to the city wtf.
Anyways it’s very vanilla here if you catch my drift and it’s gets a little old. An issue I have with all northeastern places is the beaches are shit. Not to sound spoiled but once you’ve been to any beach south of the mason Dixon you can’t go back. The food however is bomb af, service is great (you get what you pay for) there’s not a ton of hotels and there all kind of old ish and not super nice, like if you paid the same amount for a hotel here as you would in the city you’d be in an executive suite. ALSO there are too many kids here.
Overall I give it a 4/10.
Also look at this awesome photo of my solo breakfast the other day.
